Dichloromethane for Sale

Dichloromethane is principally used as a solvent in paint removers and as an aerosol propellant. CAS: 75-. This product is colorless liquid with its melting point  −9(lit.) and the  boiling point 39.8-40  mm Hg(lit.). It is used as a blowing and cleaning agent in the production of urethane foam and plastic fabrication and in paint stripping operations. There is a sweet, penetrating ,ether-like odor. It is used in metal cleaning, as a solvent in the production of polycarbonate resins, in film processing, and in ink formulations. The vapors are narcotic in high concentration. It can be used as a solvent and paint remover. This product should be stored at room temperature. Dichloromethane's use in aerosol products includes paints and automotive spray products. It is soluble in water and its solubility in water is 20g/L at 20°C.It is harmful. Dichloromethane is used in the food industry as an extraction solvent for spices, caffeine (decaffeinated coffee), and hops.  It may emit toxic chloride fumes when exposed to high temperature.
Synonyms: Methylene chloride, Methylene dichloride, Methane dichloride, Methylene bichloride, dichloromethane, Aerothene MM. Molecular Formula: CH2Cl2.
Dichloromethane is chemically stable. It is slightly soluble in water. Molecular Weight: 84.93 /mol. Harmful if swallowed or inhaled. May be harmful by skin contact. Eye and skin irritant. Readily absorbed through the skin. Asphyxiant. Causes CNS depression. Possibly carcinogenic in humans. Possible mutagen. Experimental reproductive effects. Dichloromethane is produced by treating either methyl chloride or methane with chlorine gas at 400–500. At these temperatures, both methane and methyl chloride undergo a series of reactions producing progressively more chlorinated products. Dichloromethane's volatility and ability to dissolve a wide range of organic compounds makes it a useful solvent for many chemical processes. Concerns about its health effects have led to a search for alternatives in many of these applications.
