What is Polyvinylidene fluoride

Polyvinylidene fluoride is white powder with its melting point 166-170°C. CAS:24937-79-9; Molecular Formula:(C2H2F2)n. For example, if you need a polymer that will withstand exposure to harsh thermal, chemical, or ultraviolent conditions, PVDF offers superior stability similar to the performance of fluoropolymers in these environments. It is soluble in some polar solvents such as organic esters and amines. Its highly desirable solubility and electrical properties result from the polarity of alternating CH2 and CF2 groups on the polymer chain. An extremely hard material, PVFD may be used at temperatures from -80 to 300°F (-62 to 149°C). It has a low density (1.78) and low cost compared to the other fluoropolymers.
Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is valued for its toughness, stability, and distinct engineering advantages.  It is stable but incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, silica. It can be used for coatings for chemical engineering equipment, electrical cables, high-protection coatings for metal surfaces, etc.
All of the options available can be autoclaved and gamma sterilized as well as exhibit low biomolecule binding characteristics. It is available as piping products, sheet, tubing, films, plate and an insulator for premium wire. It can be injected, molded or welded and is commonly used in the chemical, semiconductor, medical and defense industries, as well as in lithium ion batteries. It is also available as a crosslinked closed cell foam, used increasingly in aviation and aerospace applications.
