What is Methyl chloride

Methyl chloride is colorless gas with a faint sweet odor .Its melting point is  ?97 °C(lit.) Chloromethane was first synthesized by the French chemists Jean-Baptiste Dumas and Eugene Peligot in 1835 by boiling a mixture of methanol, sulfuric acid, and sodium chloride. This method is similar to that used today. and the  boiling point is ?24.2 °C(lit.). Due to concerns about its toxicity, it is no longer present in consumer products. The main aim of the consortium is to register the substance as an intermediate.

However some members will make a full registration. The extra costs involved will be shared only with the companies that need a full registration. It stable ,highly flammable. but incompatible with natural rubber and neoprene composites.
Methyl Chloride is a colorless, flammable gas with a sweet odor. It is shipped in liquid form under its own vapor pressure. Typically used as a refrigerant and in the production of silicone and Butyl rubber. It may react violently or explosively with interhalogens, magnesium, zinc, potassium, sodium or their alloys. It may decompose when exposured to moist air or water. Health Organization (WHO). The overall objectives of the IPCS are to establish the scientific basis for assessment of the risk to human health and the environment from exposure to chemicals, through international peer review processes, as a prerequisite for the promotion of chemical safety, and to provide technical assistance in strengthening national capacities for the sound management of chemicals.
Chloromethane, also called methyl chloride, R-40 or HCC 40, is a chemical compound of the group of organic compounds called haloalkanes. Air samples were collected from various sites in stainless steel flasks and methyl chloride concentrations were measured using an Electron Capture Gas Chromatograph. It was once widely used as a refrigerant. It is a colorless extremely flammable gas with a minorly sweet odor, which is, however, detected at possibly toxic levels. It can be used  to make other chemicals and as a herbicide. This product should be stored from 2°C to 8°C.
